Tom Dixon

Tom Dixon is one of the world’s most iconic British designers, with a global following. Starting from a humble background, studying pottery and life drawing which developed an obsession with materiality and manufacturing. After a few years of odd jobs, he learnt to weld from a friend and subsequently made over 100 chairs from found objects in a year and setup “space”, a shop where he and other young designers could create and sell their designs. Tom Dixon has since become a household name, cracking the USA, UK, and parts of Asia with his luxuriously unique brand and products.

Designing the iconic S-Chair in the ‘80s took Dixon from self-production to mass production, this piece is now a permanent fixture in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Surged with creativity, Dixon experimented with materiality and manufacturing techniques, creating new and ever unique designs that showed well-known materials in a whole new light. An approach that continues strongly within the company today.

After being awarded the Order of the British Empire for services to Innovation and Design, Tom Dixon setup his own company in 2002, the Tom Dixon brand we know and love today. Releasing incredibly unique and innovative collections which experiment with materials such as marble, glass and metals, creating lighting, furniture and accessories that set him apart from the rest. His pendant lighting selection is a firm favourite with interiors designers.

Here at beut, we are obsessed with Tom Dixon’s incredible range and firmly believe any piece from his stunning brand will add the finishing touch you are looking for, we especially love the Tank Whiskey Glasses and Mirror Ball Pendants. Some of his best-known families include Melt, Beat and Tank, with Dixon continually releasing new variations and products to keep his designs fresh just like the best-selling candle collections. Thanks to the introduction of his accessories, high end design has never been more affordable.
