Jaime Hayon

Spanish artist and designer, Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid in 1974. Hayon set up his own studio in 2001, where he has designed hundreds of furniture, lighting fixtures and home accessories for hotel interiors, shops and homes in collaboration with many designer brands including Fritz Hansen. Hayon Studio’s creative base is in Valencia, Spain with offices in Barcelona and Italy. He has won numerous awards, including multiple Elle Decoration International Design Awards, included by Wallpaper Magazine in its “Top 100” list and recognised by the magazine as one of the most influential creators of the last decade, lauded as a “visionary” and one of the most creative icons by Times magazine.

Hayon gets his bold yet whimsical style from his youth. As a teenager, he loved skateboard culture and graffiti art, the foundation of his work today. After studying industrial design in Madrid and Paris, he joined Fabrica in 1997, the Benetton-funded design and communication academy, where he works closely with the image-maker and agitator Oliviero Toscani. Eight years later, Jaime went out on his own, first with his collections of designer toys, ceramics and furniture, then followed by interior design and installations. Jaime has strong values and belives about what makes great design after saying "Good design is primarily design that lasts. Design must have something to say. It must be able to improve our quality of life, and it must be meaningful. But for me, design is not just about function. It is also about feelings, and I like if it provokes a little and can challenge our way of life."

Some of Jaime Hayon’s most famous designs is the Fritz Hansen Sammen Chair which are luxury, stylish chairs crafted with the finest materials and ultimate quality and precision to ensure long lasting comfort and durability. Another well-known design is the Fritz Hansen Plenum Sofas . Hayon worked with Fritz Hansen to pay homage to modern workspaces and to create collaborative spaces. The sofas have optional extras of a power unit and side tables to enhance their functionality. Jaime’s work has appeared in the most prestigious art and design publications all around the world.
