With over 100 years of designs in their catalogue, the Danish brand Gubi have been creating homewares, lighting and furniture for over a century. Based out of an old tobacco warehouse in Copenhagen, they have created incredible and breath-taking pieces of design over the years. The current owner and creative director Jacob Gubi inherited the brand from his parents, who created it back in 1967. Since then, his creative vision has led to Gubi selecting high quality and premium furniture for its edits, collaborating with esteemed designers and emerging talents.
It’s revival of old classics as well as the creation of modern and designer homewares makes Gubi a front-runner in the powerful collection of brands currently based out of Copenhagen. Running in competition with powerhouse brands such as Fritz Hansen, Carl Hansen & Son and Normann Copenhagen, Gubi holds its own within the Danish creative sphere, hiring some of the most talented Scandinavian designers to create wonderful products for their own library. Beside the famous Gubi Olsen, there are also a trove of designers who work or have worked to create the catalog that Gubi is proud to present to you, from Bonder up & Throop, Carlo de Carli and Gio Ponti, Gubi’s creative minds have worked tirelessly to curate a stunning collection of revolutionary pieces of homeware, lighting and furniture. From designer lighting pieces to artistic mirror designs, Gubi offers you with some of the most prominent designs in history.
Some of their most famous pieces are Space Copenhagen’s Gravity Table Lamp as well as the contemporary Beetle Chair collection- a seminal piece of the brand’s edit. A piece of modern artwork however is the eponymous Gubi 3D Chair, which was created as a collaboration with Komplot Design in 2003 and pioneered the use of 3D veneering technology - the results speak for themselves. The chair now sees itself in MOMA’s permanent art collection - a testament to its beauty and originality
