Founded in 2006 by the Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi, GamFratesi use their cross-cultural background to draw from both classic Danish design and traditional craftsmanship, and the timeless Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. Both architects have high academic achievements, with Stine Gam was born in Copenhagen in 1975 and graduated from the School of Architecture in Denmark in 2006 with an MA in furniture design, while Enrico Fratesi was born in Italy in 1978 and studied at the University of Florence and graduated with an MA in Industrial Design. The studio is based in Copenhagen, though Gam and Fratesi are continuously travelling between Italy and Denmark to develop new projects.

Designing furniture and homeware for Gubi , such as tables, chairs, stools, mirrors and much more. Much of their designs are renowned for applying an experimental approach to every project they take on. This unique experimental approach is applied to carefully chosen quality materials including marble and solid oak, resulting in pieces that illustrate the expert techniques that they were created from. GamFratesi have a minimalist, refined and expressive form allowing them to create a unique story with their design. For example, the iconic Gubi Beetle collection takes inspiration from the anatomy and beauty of the beetle, reimagining their characteristic shell into what started as the Beetle Chair and has developed into tables, stools and more.

GamFratesi work with the Scandinavian approach to crafts, simplicity, and functionalism to create luxury designs using long-lasting and timeless materials that are easy to maintain. Another famous design by the award-winning design duo is the Gubi Bat series, which is inspired by the intricacy and distinctive look of the bat’s wings. This series comprises of a collection of eye-catching chairs.
