The award-winning Italian lighting brand, Flos was established in 1960 by the brilliant pair, Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina, in the alpine town of Merano. Flos prides themselves on producing products from best-selling designers such as Phillippe Starck and Michael Anastassiades, uniting art and design hand in hand, Flos have sustained imagination for over 50 years. Named after the Latin word for ‘flower’, the idea was Flos would start off with simple items such as a light bulb and they would ‘blossom’ into something truly beautiful and life changing for both the Italian and foreign markets. Before Flos was established, the pair designed furniture, but the time had come to start designing new and exciting lighting. In Flos’ words “every great success comes from taking risks or from the courage to bet.”

In 2005 the new owner of Flos, Piero Gandini, made a radical choice to introduce LEDs into the production of Flos lighting. These days most of Flos’ lighting is now available with an LED option. This lead to the conception of ‘Flos Architectural Lighting’, aimed at large commercial and public spaces. For example, the String Lights make the perfect functional lighting feature in a commercial space. Flos also offer outdoor lighting solutions such as the Bellhop Table lamp for spaces such as private gardens or parks.

Most of the lighting from the top-selling brand is available in a variety of colours and finishes, including brass and chrome, evident in collections such as the IC light range.
