Ardmore Ceramics and Coles and Son wallpaper a match made in heaven, the Khulu Wallpaper features watercolours pictures of some of their some iconic vases - Ardomore's classic vases are fun and full of life with leopards, parrots lions and allsorts of animals entwinded on the vase. This is very cool and quirky - Khulu means "most important" and yes Khulu wallpaper is most important and a totally up to the minute wallpaper.
Ardmore Ceramics is the brainchild of African Ceramic artist Fée Halsted, Fee started her studio in 1985 on the Ardmore farm, at the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains in South Africa. Her aim was to train women as potters, there are now over 40 potters working, including men.
Over the last 30 years Ardmore Ceramics has become famous for their over the top, and fun filled designs - I covert their work myself.
Their work is wonderfully African and is inspired by myths and stories- featuring animals, flora and landscapes of Africa- it wonderful and unique work, I am not the only person blown away by their work, they have exhibited at museums all over the world, including Gerisch Museum, Museum of Arts and Design in New York. Christies in London called them "modern collectables" Elle Design describes them as "with aesthetics nothing less than marvellous" "over the top South African design sweetheart"
